Salary Range: $130,000 to $180,00 per year (based on experience and qualifications)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Assistant General Counsel to join our legal team. This role involves providing legal support to a growing reinsurer and reporting to the Chief Legal Officer. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on high-level legal strategy and collaboration. As a company with a small team, the right candidate for this role is willing to roll up their sleeves and work on a myriad of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Reinsurance Contract Review: Support underwriting team with detailed analysis of reinsurance agreements.
• Corporate Contract Review: Negotiate, evaluate and/or draft contracts (including investment-related agreements, banking structures, vendor agreements, real estate contracts, and confidentiality agreements) to assist departments across the company.
• Corporate Advice and Strategy: Provide guidance to various departments, including Human Resources, IT, and Operations, on different legal matters.
• Corporate Governance: Assist in corporate governance and risk management activities.

Qualifications:

• Education: Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited law school.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience in reinsurance with a law firm and/or as in-house counsel.
• Skills:
• Strong knowledge of reinsurance law and familiarity with common market practices.
• Ability to negotiate and draft complex reinsurance agreements and related contracts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior management and cross-functional teams.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
