Position Summary The Plant Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the hospital's physical plant and equipment maintenance. As the Safety Officer, this position also oversees the hospital Safety Program. Job-specific Responsibilities Demonstrates knowledge of Building Codes. Maintains inventory of hospital-owned medical equipment and coordinates repairs. Participates in department rotating on-call schedule per Nexus policy. Follows a preventive maintenance schedule, inspecting building, grounds, utility systems, and equipment. Performs routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems. Documents inspections on Maintenance Log Cards. Coordinates repair or replacement of equipment, building, grounds, or utility systems. Performs or coordinates unscheduled maintenance as needed. Maintains facility safety and reports hazards or defective equipment immediately. Leads Safety and EOC Committees, develops safety training, and addresses safety issues. Ensures timely contractor bids and quotes. Accessible 24/7 to the hospital Administrator unless otherwise arranged. Responsible for hiring in Plant Operations, including Housekeeping, Engineering, and Maintenance staff. Suggests system and routine improvements. Assists in developing the department budget and hospital projects. Evaluates staff performance at 45 and 90 days, then annually. Monitors staff performance and attendance, counsels staff as needed. Oversees Plant Operations staff and ensures duties are performed. Performs safety walks to identify hazards. Demonstrates problem-solving skills in maintenance and safety areas. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum five years in building maintenance, with skills in plumbing, electrical, and painting. Two years of supervisory experience. Licensure/Certification Valid Driver License. Obtain TB test within 14 days of employment and annually thereafter. Maintain current certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
