What You'll Do:

Further your career at Principal today as a Senior/Lead Sourcing Consultant focused on supporting our international markets! This role will be a critical part of our ongoing global procurement transformation. Our sourcing consultants drive category strategy, negotiate strategic contracts for indirect goods and services, and partner with various groups of stakeholders around to the world to deliver creative solutions to challenging problems.

 

We are seeking a motivated self-starter with global experience, and comfort operating in ambiguous and differing environments to help drive our team forward. You should bring a can-do attitude, along with an analytical and strategic mindset to the role. You will partner closely with US and global teams to execute on opportunities, drive additional visibility, enable process improvement, and create ongoing efficiency in future state processes for our international locations.

Your day could look like this:

  • Develop relationships to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities, gather requirements, scope sourcing project approaches, and promote best practices in category management, while driving supplier consolidations to achieve business results
  • Analyze spend data to identify opportunities and build business cases to drive action
  • Put in place master service agreements and local statements of work for global suppliers.
  • Support international teams with sourcing and supplier management expertise, connection to enterprise teams, and consulting on various requests
  • Work with various teams around the enterprise to develop, document, and implement processes and procedures
  • Work to drive TCO analysis, and category strategy evaluations for local, regional, and enterprise solutions across multiple indirect spend categories
  • Leverage internal data and market intelligence to inform new and innovative approaches
  • Collaborate with internal leaders to develop procurement and project requirements. Direct and execute on all aspects of strategic sourcing for medium-to-high complexity (dollar and risk) third-party needs, through negotiation of a variety of agreements.
  • Lead supply & demand planning, RFx, supplier selection, and contract review and negotiation
  • Support internal audit, compliance, and supplier risk and performance management efforts
  • Facilitate conversations with information security, risk, compliance, and other stakeholders to ensure global solutions are meeting local, regional, and enterprise requirements
Who You Are:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years strategic sourcing, supplier management, business experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following
  • Strong analytical thinking with strategic mindset
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple competing demands, while working independently and prioritizing work effectively
  • Strong business and financial analysis acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute complex negotiation strategies across multiple business units and groups of stakeholders
  • Sourcing expertise in categories across IT and non-IT indirect spend such as professional services, consulting, data and analytics, Marketing, and HR.
  • Aptitude for solving complex problems and challenging/influencing internal and external stakeholders to drive results
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the company
  • Ability to mentor other team members
  • Must be able to navigate relationships with conflicting goals and points of view
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy, be detail oriented and have excellent analytical, organizational, leadership, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to make logical decisions using facts and data

Skills that will help you stand out:

  • Advanced degree such as MBA or JD preferred or Certified Purchasing Manager designation
  • Foreign language skills in Spanish, French, German, and/or Mandarin
  • Project Management experience

Hiring Level: We are open to hiring at both the Senior and Lead Sourcing Consultant level depending on experience and capabilities. 

Work Location: This role will be based out of our Des Moines, IA or Charlotte, NC locations. 

Hours: This role will require working outside normal business hours for meetings with colleagues in other time zones.

Travel: This role will require some overnight and international travel.

Salary Range Information: Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salary Range: $100800 - $167000 / year Time Off Program: Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided. Pension Eligible: Yes Additional Information:
